Old Veteran Cypress
Point Lobos State Natural Reserve just south of Carmel's Monastery Beach has the reputation of being the "crown jewel" of the California State Park System and a photographer's delight. One of the awe-inspiring sight is the over one thousand year old Cypress tree known as Old Veteran, which is clinging to the cliffs of Cypress Cove.

USS Iowa Passing through the Golden Gate
The USS Iowa, commissioned in 1943 and the last of the US battleships, left the San Francisco Bay Area for its last time to its new destination in San Pedro, CA. On the eve of the 75th anniversary celebration of the Golden Gate Bridge, the majestic ship departed the San Francisco Bay under blue sky and escorted by fireboats and sailboats.

Sunset at Soberanes Cove
Soberanes Cove is about a mile south of the northern end of Garrapata State Park. The turnout is just north of the start of the Garrapata Canyon Trail. A short trail leads to a rocky beach where one can experience gorgeous Big Sur sunsets.

Sunrise over Crown Point
Starting in early May, the sun rises above the Columbia River and over Crown Point when viewed from the Portland Women's Forum. Around the middle of May (and again towards the end of July) the sun will rise right above Crown Point. If the weather cooperate, early risers are rewarded with a GORGEous view. Shot was planned with The Photographer's Ephemeris.
