Snow Moon

According to the Farmer's Almanac, the Native Americans named the February full moon the Snow Moon because February usually has the heaviest snow falls.  In other parts of the world they call it the Moon of Ice (Celts) or the Budding Moon (Chinese) in anticipation of spring.

Lantern Viewing at Lan Su Garden

Each year towards the end of the two week long Chinese New Year Celebration, the Lan Su Chinese Garden in Portland opens its doors in the evening for a lantern viewing.  More than 200 floating lanterns and over 100 hanging lanterns light up the Garden.
