Wolf Moon by Campanile

The Wolf Moon cleared the Berkeley Hills (and a tree) a little later than anticipated and missed the blue hour by 45 min.

The Old and the New

Hotel Georgia, the landmark 1927 Vancouver Hotel has welcomed royalties and pop stars, reopened in 2011 as the Rosewood Hotel Georgia. A 48 story highrise, The Private Residences at Hotel Georgia, replaced its old parking structure and the modern metal and glass design offers a stark contrast to the masonry, terra cotta Hotel Georgia.

Three Sisters

It was a clear day on the fight up to the Northwest. Here is an aerial shot of Mt Rainier, Mt St Helens and Mt Adams (ok they aren't the real Three Sisters.)

Four Bears Fountain

The Marin Circle Fountain, also known as the Four Bears Fountain, in located in the middle of a roundabout where seven streets meet in the lower Berkeley Hills. The original fountain, which was destroyed in the fifties by a runaway truck, was the City of Berkeley's first public work of art.  In 1996, thanks to the fundraising of the Friends of the Fountain and Walk, the restored fountain was dedicated.  Yay.

Red Rock Canyon

Red Rock Canyon Natural Conservation Area lies about 20 miles west of Last Vegas off Highway 159. A 13 mile drive has plenty of stops for one to explore the desert beauty and towering red cliffs caused by iron oxide. One can also explore the Red Rocks off Calico Basin right before the Conservation Area Entrance.

New Year's Day Sunset

It's great to be able to enjoy a sunset right through the middle of the Golden Gate Bridge from the lanai. Especially on New Year's Day.
